Quinta da Fininha
Arrábida | Portugal
Sitting high atop a knoll in the heart of the Serra da Arrábida along the Atlantic coast, Quinta da Fininha enjoys sweeping daytime views of the hills below and of the twinkling lights of Lisbon in the distance at night.
Like its namesake – our mother – Quinta da Fininha is a graceful, exuberant mix of the traditional and the modern. In collaboration with architect Manuel Centeno, we have reimagined the house, renovating the kitchen, bathrooms and pool. The house sleeps 8 and has 3 bedrooms – one with a full bed, one with two single beds, one with a bunk bed – and a full convertible sofa bed in the den.
Lounge by the pool or the fireplace, with the golden sun or a good book for company – Quinta da Fininha welcomes every mood and season.
Serra da Arrábida
Quinta da Fininha is within the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park, where native Mediterranean flora flourish in the rugged, lush terrain and temperate climate. World-famous beaches and mountain treks are just minutes away.
Sesimbra, Cabo Espichel & Meco
Between dunes and cliffs, find beaches where you can enjoy a swim and the sunset. The old fishing village of Sesimbra, sheltered from the Atlantic by Cabo Espichel, offers calm waters, breathtaking views, and fresh seafood.
Setúbal & Palmela
Lying between the Sado river and the Atlantic, Setúbal is a bustling port with a charming historic center, and is at the heart of a thriving agricultural region known for its excellent wine and cheese. Nearby Palmela castle dates back to the 9th century and commands views as far as Alentejo.
Quinta da Fininha was built by our grandparents a half century ago, and has anchored our international family ever since. Our best childhood memories are of running free with our cousins among the eucalyptus, olive and pine, building forts beneath the generous canopy of the ancient fig tree, and languid late summer dinners on the veranda, as the sun set over Lisbon and Sintra on the horizon. Four generations strong, we welcome you to share this magical corner of Portugal.
